Glass Artist Christie Moody of Blue Heron Glass

Christie Moody spent her childhood in Memphis, Tennessee, inspired and encouraged by her mother, Marilyn Stratton, a painter. After graduating with a BFA in Art Education at
the University of Georgia, she discovered the magic of glass when a friend demonstrated the basics of stained glass. This was the beginning of a longadventure with the enigmatic nature of this versatile material. Christie taught art, including glass art, to people of all ages for many years. Among her teachers were Dan Fenton, Paul Marion, and Frank van den Ham. Out of these experiences she has developed her own techniques of carving, hot working, fusing and slumping glass. Her imagery of the flora and fauna of the Georgia sea islands and rivers speak of her love for these ecosystems. This love is also reflected in her work to preserve Georgia's Broad River. Christie creates fusedeclecticgallery.net and slumped glass panels, bowls, platters, "flying " birds and insects called " Avian Whims". She works in her studio at her farm in Northeast Georgia, where she lives with her husband Michael, son Devin and daughter Gwyneth. . View the art of... Glass Artist Christie Moody of Blue Heron Glass
